A member of the State funded pension scheme.
A Member of the State funded pension scheme (hereinafter - Member of the 2 nd pillar of pensions) has the right to choose how the capital of his or her funded pension will be used, if such Member dies before the day when the old-age pension is requested (including prematurely). A Member of the 2 nd pillar pension pillar may use the accumulated capital by choosing one of three options:
• to include the State pension in the special budget;
• to add the funded pensions of the indicated person to the capital;
• transfer to inheritance in accordance with the procedures laid down in the Civil Law.
A participant in the 2 nd pillar of pensions may change the selection without restriction by submitting a new application to the State Social Insurance Agency (hereinafter - SSIA). The SSIA shall register the choice of a Member of the 2 nd pillar pension scheme and ensure that the Member of the funded pension scheme has access to information regarding the choice registered by the SSIA or the last choice made by him or her if the Member of the 2 nd pillar pension changes the choice.

- Service requests To request the service, you must fill in for a particular form submission addressed to the SSIA. May submit a submission:
- registering the choice of a participant in level 2 of electronic services pensions regarding inheritance of accumulated capital in the State administration services portal in Latvija.gov.lv;
- face-to-face at any SSIA Customer Service Centre or State and local Government Single Customer Service centres (a personal identification document (passport or ID card) must be presented);
- Send SSIA electronically (signed with a secure electronic signature containing the time stamp).
- Receipt of services A person may receive notification regarding registration of the selection:
- at the official electronic address, if enabled;
- Latvija.gov.lv on the portal
- face-to SSIA Customer Service centres.

Service requests
To request the service, you must fill in for a particular form submission addressed to the SSIA.
May submit a submission:
• on the www.latvija.lv portal;
• on-site (if requested for service, a personal identification document (passport or ID card) must be produced);
• electronically (the application must be signed with a secure electronic signature containing the time stamp);
• by post, if a choice has been made:
- to be included in the special budget for public pensions;
- leave in succession in accordance with the procedures specified by the Civil Law.
An application may be submitted in person to any VSAA customer service centre or to the unified customer service centres of the State and local governments.
The submission shall indicate the preferred method of receiving the decision.

A person may receive a notification regarding registration of his or her choice:
- in the official electronic address if it is activated
- face-to-face;
- on the portal www.latvija.lv.
